Why so down when a hurricane appears? I’ve got one good thing to look forward to with this upcoming Hurricane Fay on the way…another paid day off from work! Yippee!!!
It’s expected to be here around tomorrow night or so but I’ve got the entire day off! I bet it will be nice and sunny most of the day. Maybe I’ll take that time to sit by the pool and chill out. Maybe get a little extra workout in. Goodness, I just can’t wait for tomorrow.
Alright, now I’m not completely heartless…there are plenty of people affected by the hurricane…blah blah blah.
But who cares when I’ve got the day off! ![]()
This past weekend I took a trip to Miami (all by myself). Of course no trip is without it’s stumbles but for the most part I had an awesome time.
On Saturday I spent most of the afternoon running errands with my cousin, but was rewarded with some delicious Haitian food: legume, white rice and beans (yum!). I can’t think of any better combination. I also did a little shopping and later went to a post wedding party for my cousin Loulie. I really picked a great time to go because nearly all of my relatives were there.
On Sunday I’ve gotta admit that I was dragging my feet but mostly because I knew that no one was in the mood to leave anywhere early since we were out til 3:30am the previous night. I did however, manage to get a little morning shopping and came back to pick up my cousin Farrha for an afternoon adventure in South Beach, Miami where there were plenty of topless women on the beach and hot guys.
Keep checking my page for some pics from my trip to Miami. I should have some up before the end of the day.
I don’t mean to be arrogant, but what do manager’s actually constitute as work?
Here’s a job description for people in management:
- Come in late…each and every day
- Leave work early
- Take +2hr lunch breaks
- Surf the Internet while others [usually me] perform your actual duties
- Take personal phone calls for hours throughout the day
- Shut the door when taking an afternoon nap
- When something goes wrong, blame someone else (I’ve noticed nearly everyone doing this one)
- Act as if you know what’s going on at work when you really have no clue
I once heard a statement, “Managers aren’t paid to work, they’re paid to manage others”. Now, is this really true? I feel like a company is productive not due to the management but due to the actual workers who perform the work. Do you think that managers can actually do any of the work their employees do? No way! It seems as if they’re paid to be a face for the company. Someone who can wear a ’suit & tie’ each day and look like they have something going on in their heads.
Am I wrong? I can’t say that I know how it is every where but I’ve noticed the same trend each time I’ve changed jobs. Well, maybe I just haven’t had a job yet where people in management actually worked.
Tell me what you think.
So I’ve got school coming up and having a hard time signing up for the rest of my classes. I don’t know what’s going on with the school’s website but it keeps saying that the connection failed. I think I’m going to have to go down there and register in person if possible.
I feel so exhausted and need a vacation before returning to school. Maybe I’ll take a road trip and take some pictures (that always relaxes me). School is going to be pretty expensive this semester and I realize that I can’t get my camera depending on the final cost. I’m hopeful, but I won’t hold my breath…sigh
With a very stressful job (and plenty of annoying employees there) I get overwhelmed sometimes. I hope it stops raining long enough for me to do something fun.
What more can I say, I’ve gone out and purchased a compact digital camera after having a Canon Rebel XT and the quality difference is astounding. If you ever used an SLR and tried to go back to regular cameras, you can so obviously tell where the basic camera is lacking. The vivid colors and color contrasts, the list just goes on…sigh, I’m missing my Canon Rebel now…
I had a great weekend! I started off the weekend a little early going seeing Blue Man Group which was great! There’s some audience participation and they really know how to interact with the crowd. The guys even do a little something special for those “late arrivals”.

Not only did I see Blue Man Group, but I also went to Wet ‘N Wild…it was packed! It’s been years since I’ve been there but the day I go happened to be Deaf Awareness Day and a few family reunions. That had to be one of the most quiet times I’ve experienced at a water park; you couldn’t even hear anyone scream on the scary rides. It was so fascinating seeing almost everyone using sign language.
The most memorable moments had to be when I attempted the Ski Boarding at the lake. I completely embarrassed myself…the first time around I lasted a few seconds, then after climbing out the lake to try again my bottoms fall off and I had to use the board to cover myself. The second attempt I did just a little better and made sure to check my bottoms before stepping out but was late to notice that my boobs were completely exposed between my life vest - what embarrassment - but I laughed it off.
My mother’s birthday was the weekend as well. So many of my family members came by to celebrate her 50th birthday. It was a great time!
It’s too bad the weekend didn’t last longer and my family members couldn’t stay longer. Hopefully I can spend a little more time with them next weekend.
I’ve been on STRIKE! I know its been a while since I’ve written a blog but I was waiting on my long lost love of a camera to come in, my Nikon D80. Alas, I still have nothing. I ache at the thought that my Nikon has not arrived. For nearly a month I’ve felt like an addict awaiting for my camera to come…one day…hopefully. I’ve gone so far as to order another completely different camera to satisfy my craving, a (Nikon Coolpix S600). I should receive my ‘baby’ in the mail this Tuesday via FedEx! Yippeee!
To be honest, if my new camera does the job I’m considering giving up my quest on having the ultimate camera…my Nikon D80. I just know that when the time comes and my camera hook up finally comes through, it will be at the worst time (school money is due and I’m broke).
What should I do? Should I just wait for who knows how much longer for my camera to come or just stick with the camera I ordered?
Regardless, I think I’ll be quite satisfied with my camera or cameras. Just check out some sample Nikon Coolpix S600 photos I found (unedited) Click here!
With great surprise, my Canon Rebel XT sold quite quickly on eBay. I’m so excited as with the selling of my camera I can now go out and buy the ‘over the top’ Nikon D80 - oh yeah! I’m going to really get back into the grove of photography once I get my Nikon.

People are weird…
Have you ever checked out Craigslist? Just take a look at the Personals section…you can’t really go wrong as to which tab you select. My favorite is Rants & Raves. Given that most of the stuff on there is mainly adult content (so be warned) just reading peoples personal thoughts are hilarious.
I must say its better than Twitter…yep I said it. I know I can’t really hate too much since I have an account but I don’t use it often. Twitter is just one of those things that gets really boring, real quick (yawn).
Some good things about Craigslist is that its absolutely free! If its free, its me! lol Did I mention I ended up getting an offer on my camera?!? The certified check is in the mail! Yipeee!!! The buyer told me as soon as the check clears he’ll have someone come by to pick it up. Yay once again!!! Happy day for me!

So I was reading some random blogs and I noticed one about a spray you put on your license plate that adds a shield so that cameras can’t photograph your license plate which saves you from Traffic cameras. This magical spray called PhotoBlocker will run you $29.99 (enough for 2 cars) - satisfaction guaranteed.
I may consider investing in this product…sounds a little too good to be true but resources say it works! It’s gone so far to say that in the state of Arizona its actually illegal.
